Most people seem to find the transition from summer to winter sad and depressing. However, autumn is an exciting time for craft beer enthusiasts. It’s exciting because the “goods” produced during harvest season are used to brew beer. Well, it’s that time of year again. It’s September, so it’s officially time for pumpkin ales! We’re going to have 3 different Elysian pumpkin ales available in BC this year, and it’s all starting with the Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale!
The Night Owl is a very drinkable pumpkin ale-brewed with seven and a half pounds of pumpkin per barrel (added in the mash, kettle and fermenter), roasted and raw pumpkin seeds in the mash, and spiced in conditioning with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. It’s 5.9% ABV and 18 IBUs.
The Night Owl is available at 4 different government stores (BC Liquor Stores) this year. You can find it at 39th and Cambie, Alberni and Bute, Robson and Abbotsford. We have a lot more coming so you should also see it in private liquor stores soon as well.
In early October, you will also see 2 other Elysian pumpkin ales in BC.
Dark O’ The Moon is Elysian’s specialty pumpkin stout brewed with roasted pumpkin seeds in the mash and pumpkin in the mash, kettle and fermenter. The cinnamon kicks this brew to the next level. It’s a spookily smooth and chocolatey pumpkin stout. 7.5% ABV.
The Great Pumpkin is the world’s first Imperial Pumpkin Ale-brewed with roasted pumpkin seeds in the mash, and extra pumpkin added in the mash, kettle and fermenter. Spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice. 8.1% ABV.
The Dark O The Moon and The Great Pumpkin Imperial Pumpkin Ale will be available in private liquor stores early October.
Cheers!
